Rawang's Bandar Country Homes has been chosen by the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) for this year's "Zon Bersih (Clean Zone)" cleanliness awareness programme. On September 30, 2012, Tzu Chi was again invited to promote their environmental protection concepts to the residents.

In 2011, Tzu Chi cooperated with the Selayang Municipal Council to promote environmental protection and recycling to residents of Bandar Country Homes. This time, Tzu Chi was again invited to participate in the Council's "Zon Bersih (Clean Zone)" cleanliness awareness programme held on September 30.

Promoting clean-up at the source

Activity Coordinator, Lee Loong Hin thanked Event Organizer, Mr Gunalan, for proposing to his Committee to include Tzu Chi in their environmental protection campaign.

In this campaign, Lee Loong Hin said that Tzu Chi volunteers would promote "Say no to polystyrene form containers and plastic bags" and "Bring your own shopping bags and dining cutlery". Volunteers paraded around the area, either on foot or on bicycle, with the promotional posters.

Rawang's Bandar Country Homes has been chosen as a model clean zone in Selayang District. Besides distributing recycling bins to all shops in the zone, the Selayang Municipal Council also took the opportunity to invite local societies and organizations to help promote the concepts of environmental protection.

Town councilor, Ms Yan said that everyone is responsible for their community's cleanliness.

Mr Zaidy, an MPS Officer, said he learnt from Tzu Chi volunteers that we have to take actions to protect the environment for our next generation".
