Gua Musang in Kelantan faced the worst flooding in decades since December 21, with floodwaters rising close to 3m. When the floodwaters subsided, Tzu Chi volunteers immediately set out to survey the disaster area and conduct aid distribution, hoping to relieve the flood victims.

Eight Malaysian States suffered severe flooding due to the incessant rain in December. Tzu Chi volunteers provided relief efforts in Gua Musang (Kelantan), and Kuala Lipis and Temerloh (Pahang). On December 26, Tzu Chi KL & Selangor established a command centre and mobilized volunteers to register the aid recipients in the affected areas. The first aid distribution was held on December 28.
