On March 5, 2010, volunteers from Tzu Chi Kuantan held a tea reception for 32 students of Universiti Malaysia Pahang at their office. Their aim was to inspire the youth to be more filial towards their parents and to be compassionate to the less fortunate.

With "Say good words, do good deeds and think good thoughts" as the theme, the children of Tzu Chi Da Ai Educare Centre in Melaka and Kuala Lumpur were taught to uphold etiquette and the awareness of environmental protection while celebrating the Lunar New Year festival.

In the five months that Laura spent in Tzu Chi as an AFS Community Service Volunteer, she had served as a "Loving Sister" in the kindergarten, keyed in English articles, did recycling and served in the Free Clinic. She has learned that happiness is derived for serving others.
