On June 10, 2018, Tzu Chi Entrepreneurs’ Group held a fundraising luncheon at Sheraton Petaling Jaya Hotel to raise funds for the building of Tzu Chi International School KL, and it received a positive response from the public.

Since the groundbreaking ceremony of Tzu Chi International School KL (TCISKL) on September 16, 2017, volunteers have been putting in even more efforts to raise funds for the building. Many people have also been giving their support, including an 85-year-old elderly who donated her life savings; a 75-year-old elderly who produced chili sauce for charity sale; a vegetarian restaurant owner who saved monthly for the school, and more.

After months of planning and preparation, Tzu Chi Entrepreneurs’ Group held a fundraising luncheon at Sheraton Petaling Jaya Hotel on June 10, 2018, and all funds collected were channelled to the building of TCISKL. Moved by the volunteers’ selflessness and Tzu Chi’s practice of earmarking the donations for purposes as specified by the donors, the hotel owners generously sponsored the 74-table luncheon.

During the luncheon, the guests gained a better understanding of Tzu Chi’s educational ideals and approach, as well as its positive influence, through the specially planned programmes, which included a musical drama and sign language performance that highlighted the virtue of filial piety, and sharing by volunteers on how their children were guided back on the right track thanks to Tzu Chi’s education.

Echo Chien, CEO of Tzu Chi KL & Selangor, also underlined to the guests that the purpose of setting up the TCISKL is not for profit but to provide quality and holistic education.

Many of the guests were impressed by Tzu Chi’s Mission of Education, and some even made donations on the spot to support the good cause, which serves to nurture future pillars of society.
