Kuala Lumpur Da Ai Educare Centre (kindergarten) recently held its 5th Graduation Ceremony for 16 graduands at New Era College's Auditorium Hall. All its 75 students presented a musical Sutra adaptation to an audience of 457. To show their sincerity, the children and parents observed a vegetarian diet since May this year.

It was truly a grand graduation ceremony for the sixteen 6-year old boys and girls. The graduands were accompanied by their parents, grandparents and relatives, who came to witness the little ones receiving their first certificate in life!

Flashback

The ceremony that took place on December 9, 2012, began with a photo flashback slideshow of the graduands. One could see that the little 4-year-olds, who cried their hearts out on the first day of school, have transformed into little gentlemen and ladies who could perform sign-language on stage! They also pledged to protect the animals and Mother Earth by observing a vegetarian diet.

Then Class representatives, Xu Wen Xin, Guo Si Ting and Zeng Shan Wen delivered their graduation speeches in Mandarin, Malay and English respectively.

Sutra adaptation

Following the short and sweet speeches was the musical Sutra adaptation.

With a star-filled night sky in the background and 6 pieces of crystal Buddha statues glowing with subdued lighting, the kindergarten's 75 children performed on stage the "Water Repentance - One Perfect, Bright and Inherent Nature, Experiencing the 6 Realms in Dream, One after Another We Repent and Make Vows with Utmost Sincerity".

Last but not least, the graduating class and their parents led the sign-language performance of "Great Repentance". Everyone in the audience also joined in.

The children began to study the Sutra of "Water Repentance" since early this year. Their parents were also invited to join the Sutra study group held by the volunteers in the community.

All the kindergarten children went on a vegetarian campaign, and they were supported by many parents. In 7 months, a total of 59,603 vegetarian meals were recorded from the students and parents.

First certificate in life

Song Quek Khian, Deputy CEO of Tzu Chi Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, performed the "turning of the tassel" ceremony and handed over the graduation certificates to the children.

The 16 graduands bowed respectfully to their teachers, then knelt down to present their first certificate in life to their parents.

A right choice

Zeng Shan Wen's mother, Luo Yue Xin shared that when Shan Wen was elected to deliver the graduation speech in English, she wanted to turn it down. But the mother encouraged her by quoting this Jing-Si Aphorism - "One must overcome difficulties, not be overcome by difficulties" - and promised to help her. Shan Wen finally overcame her fear and did very well.

Madam Luo said she and her husband decided to send Shan Wen to Da Ai Educare where she could learn moral education. It was a decision they never regretted. When Madam Luo was invited to give testimony on stage, she refused initially because she just had a cosmetic treatment on her face moles. But when her daughter said, "When your heart is beautiful, everything you see is beautiful," Madam Luo had no excuse but to accept the invitation.

Shan Wen has always used Jing-Si Aphorisms to settle arguments between her parents.

Madam Luo will bring Shan Wen to Tzu Chi's Parent-Child Bonding Class and had also installed Da Ai TV at home to ensure her girl continues to receive Tzu Chi's education.

We will miss you

Liu Yong Ni cried saying that she will miss her teachers very much and was not willing to go home after the ceremony.

Lin Qian Yu held her teacher and cried. Her father, Lin Chang Jin said, "Da Ai Kindergarten's children are compassionate and cultured. How nice if we have a Tzu Chi Primary School here!"

Guo Si Ting also cried because she had to depart from her beloved teachers and she was already missing them. Si Ting's mother, Yao Mei Xiang said the Jing-Si Aphorisms that her daughter shared with her had helped her tremendously in her workplace.

Xu Wen Xin's mother, Zou Qiu Yi said that her son had also studied in this kindergarten. She thanked the kindergarten for giving her children very good education; and informed that her whole family will continue to participate in Tzu Chi's activities.

It is hoped that the 3 years of Tzu Chi's education had planted good seeds in the hearts of the graduands and that soon the seeds will produce more healthy seeds.
