The new assembly hall at Batu Caves Tamil Primary School has a huge stage and a beautiful ceiling, but no chairs. On March 22, 2012, a group of Tzu Chi volunteers delivered 1,000 new chairs for the assembly hall.

For the first time, the school canteen has new tables and benches. The teachers and students appreciate what they have. To the students, it's not just new furniture but also an encouragement and love.【Photograph by So Miew Chong】

On February 15, 2012, Tzu Chi delivered 18 new tables and 36 benches to Marian Convent School for use at its canteen. The old tables and benches were unsafe for use by the 300 students in the school.

From October 30 and November 13, 20 sessions of "Seeds of Hope" Study Grant Presentation Ceremonies were held by Tzu Chi Kuala Lumpur & Selangor to hand out cash, uniforms and other items to 5,500 primary and secondary students from low income families.

Sixteen-year old Chen Wei Hong arrived at the venue of the Study Grant Presentation Ceremony with his father, who has Parkinson's disease, to receive his first study grant. He felt blessed because the Study Grant Scheme has changed his life, and now there is light at the end of the tunnel.

On October 29 & 30, Tzu Chi Kuching organized eight Study Grant Presentation Ceremonies to hand out educational aid to 1,400 students from low-income families. Parents and children were very happy and grateful to the volunteers for this financial assistance.

On September 4, 2011, 2,613 successful applicants of Tzu Chi Melaka's 2011 Study Grant Scheme attended the three presentation ceremonies held at Pay Fong High School. They were given money, environmentally-friendly dining set, school uniforms, shoes, and so on.

Some schools in rural areas were short on computers. Tzu Chi volunteers in Melaka decided to supply the 18 old computers given by Infineon Technologies Malaysia to Ladang Tebong Tamil Primary School and Ladang Jasin Lalang Tamil Primary School.

Kalidas stopped schooling after his father was injured in an accident, and had to work to provide for his siblings' education. To repay his brother's kindness, Gobi studied hard and obtained good results.

Tzu Chi Melaka held five sessions of Study Grant Presentation Ceremony to distribute financial and medical aid to some 2,500 students and their immediate family members. It is hoped that such aid will help to lessen the burden of these low income families.
